MOA Journeys: Papua New Guinea 2017
SOLD OUT
Join us from August 27 to September 8, 2017, for a spectacular journey to Papua New Guinea, where you’ll experience one of the most culturally and environmentally diverse regions in the world. Museum of Anthropology curator Dr. Carol E. Mayer will guide you through the dramatic Highlands Region, home of the iconic bird of paradise, and then take you on a journey along the mighty Sepik River which winds its way through some of the most breath-taking scenery in the world.
Dr. Mayer has worked in the South Pacific for the past 20 years, and for ten of these she has been drawn to Papua New Guinea, building the finest collection of Pacific arts in Canada. Her most recent exhibit, In the Footprint of the Crocodile Man: Contemporary Art of the Sepik River, is on view at MOA until January 31, 2017, and an accompanying publication is available at the MOA Shop.
