Acclaimed Musqueam weaver Debra Sparrow will share her personal relationship to early Salish weavings and illuminate their cultural contexts. It is Debra‚Äôs hope to use weaving to educate others about the beauty and integrity of her people’s history.Debra is self-taught in Salish design, jewelry-making and weaving. Her grandfather, Ed Sparrow Sr., ignited her passion for designing in traditional Salish styles as a way of connecting with her ancestral histories.

Join MOA Curator Sue Rowley for a special tour of our newest exhibit, featuring early Salish weavings on loan from institutions in Europe and the United States. This tour will look at the history of these weavings and how they ended up so far from home.
