MOA is delighted to appoint Amina Chergui as Curator, Education.
Amina Chergui is a settler of Kabyle Amazigh (Algerian) and Portuguese descent, born and raised on the territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. She holds a Master’s degree in museum education from the University of British Columbia. Her graduating research explored the pedagogical potential of engaging youth in virtual reality-based storytelling with digital museum assets. Amina believes in the transformative power of art and story, and strives to centre strengths-based narratives of Indigenous sovereignty and self-determination in the learning experiences that she facilitates.

Amina first joined MOA’s Programming and Engagement team in May 2020 as the Education Assistant supporting the development of the MOA App, and then served as the Education Coordinator. She previously worked at the Royal British Columbia Museum as a Learning Program Facilitator.
“We are delighted to have Amina Chergui step into the role of Curator, Education,” says Director Susan Rowley. “Amina brings creativity, dedication, and a strong pedagogical foundation to her work. Her commitment to inclusive and transformative learning makes her an inspiring leader for MOA’s educational programming.”
At MOA, Amina is responsible for leading the Museum’s education programs, working with schools, educators, and community groups to create meaningful, inclusive learning experiences. She brings a deep commitment to accessibility, creativity, and the power of storytelling in museum education. Amina’s passion for art and culture shines through her work, inspiring visitors of all ages to engage deeply with MOA’s collections and exhibitions.
