Jennifer Kramer, Curator, Pacific Northwest

Areas of Expertise

Dr. Jennifer Kramer works with First Nations on the Pacific Northwest Coast, especially the Nuxalk and Kwakwaka’wakw in British Columbia. She has responsibilities for the following communities’ material culture at MOA: Nuxalk, Nisga’a, Gitxsan, Wet’suwet’n, Gitanyow, Tsimshian, Haisla (with Sue Rowley) and Kwakwaka’wakw (with Karen Duffek). Textiles and clothing from around the world are another area of focus.

Research Interests

Jennifer’s research focuses upon First Nations visual culture, art market economies, identity production, representation, repatriation, cultural property, Aboriginal cultural tourism, Indigenous modernity and collaborative and critical museology.
