Laura Osorio Sunnucks, Mellon Postdoctoral Curatorial Fellow for Latin America

Areas of Expertise

Dr. Laura Osorio Sunnucks holds a PhD in Mesoamerican art and heritage from Leiden University. Her research has involved working with Maya speakers from Yucatan, Mexico to construct a theoretical framework with which to interpret Maya ritual and religious art. Laura has experience in museum education, heritage management and curatorial projects.

Research Interests

The politics and agency of museums and heritage sites, local and Indigenous community knowledge regarding ancient (archaeological) sites and material remains, the intersection between religious group-making and heritage management in Maya communities.
