Stitching Resistance: Palestinian Tatreez Workshop with Rawan Hassan
Sunday August 11 | 1 – 4 pm
In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn about Palestinian tatreez تطريز (embroidery).
Explore the values and identities embedded in this rich artistic tradition. Celebrating histories of resilience and the futurity of Palestinian culture and community, participants will visit historical examples of tatreez, practice embroidering traditional Palestinian motifs, and learn about Hassan’s artistic practice.
Individuals of any skill/experience level are welcome.

Artist Bio
Rawan Hassan روان حسن is a Palestinian multidisciplinary artist and community organizer based in so-called Vancouver. Her work reflects the cultures, experiences and perspectives she grew up and continues to evolve with. Experimenting with traditional methods and invoking themes of Arab-Palestinian Futurism, Rawan’s practice includes tatreez, linework, and poetry.
