Ancestral Modern: A MOA Mini Journey in Whistler

On January 20, take a one-day MOA Mini Journey with fellow MOA Members to the Audain Art Museum in Whistler to experience their exhibition, Ancestral Modern: Australian Aboriginal Art from the Kaplan & Levi Collection.

This stunning and unique display of Aboriginal art is the perfect complement to MOA’s own exhibition, Marking the Infinite: Contemporary Women Artists from Aboriginal Australia—on view now at MOA until March 31.

Ancestral Modern presents a selection of outstanding contemporary art by Indigenous Australian and Torres Strait Islander artists. Since the 1960s, artists from these communities have spearheaded a renaissance in the world’s oldest continuous artistic tradition, innovating within the idioms of visual languages that have developed over the course of millennia.

Enjoy private guided tours of the exhibition in its closing week, and of the museum’s permanent collections, with staff of the Audain Art Museum. You’ll be accompanied on your Mini Journey by MOA’s Curator of the Pacific, Carol E. Mayer.

This MOA Mini Journey to Whistler includes return transportation by coach, catered lunch, museum admission and guided tours of the Audain Art Museum. Depart January 20 from MOA at 9:30 am; return at approximately 6 pm.

Tickets are $85 for MOA Members and $140 for friends of MOA Members/non-members.

To book your seat now, contact MOA Public Services Manager Gwilyn Timmers at members@moa.ubc.ca or 604.822.4643.
