What’s Your Cautionary Tale?
Ceramics and Stories with Debra Sloan

January 31, 2020 | 10 am – 12 pm

Celebrated ceramic artist Debra Sloan is giving a student clay workshop unlike any other. Designed for grades 9 to 12, this two-hour program includes a tour and hands-on clay decorating, all focusing on the theme of cautionary tales and stories. The Koerner European Ceramics Gallery tour will highlight ways that artists have historically used clay as a medium for their messages.

In the hands-on workshop, Debra will encourage the students to come up with their own contemporary cautionary tale and share it through surface decoration of clay. The workshop will end with a tour of the temporary exhibition, Playing with Fire: Ceramics of the Extraordinary, opening November 21, 2019.

Fee: $12/student (taxes included)
Grades: 9–12
Materials included
Limit of one class per workshop
