ReciprociTea with T’uy’t’tanat Cease Wyss
October 2021–May 2022
Tuesdays, 10–11:30am
Join cultural knowledge keeper and Indigenous Plant Diva T’uy’t’tanat Cease Wyss (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh/Sto:Lo/Hawaiian/Swiss) for hands-on, embodied learning about Indigenous plants.
During this 1.5-hour program, Cease will show students the various Indigenous plants growing on MOA’s grounds, teach about their uses and properties, and share her extensive knowledge through stories and songs. The program concludes with Cease sharing herbal tea with each student (stinging nettle, raspberry leaf, mint, and rosehips) in the Haida House. Students will learn about the importance of Indigenous plants for the wellbeing of ourselves and local ecosystems, and will reflect on themes of reciprocity, stewardship, and our relationship with the plant world.
