Visitor Engagement Volunteer
All new volunteers begin on the Visitor Engagement Committee, where they will be trained to staff the visitor information desk in the museum’s lobby. As the initial public face of MOA, Visitor Engagement volunteers welcome guests, provide an overview of the museum and answer questions. After new volunteers have spent some time on the visitor information desk, they will have the opportunity to take additional training to become Museum Hosts and/or Guides, who work in the galleries to enhance the visitors’ experience and deliver tours.
Training:
All new volunteers are required to attend all sessions of MOA 101: Introductory Training Seminar (dates TBA), as well as undertake a program of self-directed online training. Visitor Engagement volunteers will work two shifts at the visitor information desk with an experienced volunteer. They will continue to receive ongoing training under the guidance of MOA’s Curator of Public Programs.
Following the initial training, Visitor Engagement volunteers may choose to undertake additional training to become Museum Hosts, who work in the galleries to enhance the visitor experience. Further extensive training is required to become Museum Guides, who provide guided tours to visitors. Visitor Engagement volunteers may also choose to join another committee that is accepting new volunteers.
